State Prison System Reaches 90% Air-Conditioned

With the completion of air conditioning installation projects at Warren Correctional and Wilkes Correctional this month, NCDAC has reached the point where 90% of the nearly 39,000 beds in our correctional facilities are in air-conditioned spaces.

NCDAC Secretary Dismukes serves as Co-chair of this Task Force committed to reducing gang activity and building safe communities.

ACA Accreditation

As part of its strategic plan, the NCDAC is pursuing American Correctional Association accreditation for all parts of the agency.

Air Conditioning Upgrades

This complex NCDAC project aims to design and install air conditioning at 40 state prisons that lack cooling systems, either partially or entirely, by 2027.
