NC Joint Reentry Council Shares "Reentry 2030 Progress Report"

The first Reentry 2030 Progress Report provides a scorecard of progress on objectives, strategies, and metrics established by the NC Joint Reentry Council. It contains recommendations for the General Assembly's 2025 session for actions to improve reentry.

Furniture Academy Connects Offenders to Job Prospects

Seven offenders from Catawba CC are learning to build furniture and rebuild their lives. They are the first cohort of offender-students training in the furniture craft through an NCDAC / Catawba Valley Community College partnership.

Current Initiatives

ACA Accreditation

As part of its strategic plan, the NCDAC is pursuing American Correctional Association accreditation for all parts of the agency.

Air Conditioning Upgrades

This complex NCDAC project aims to design and install air conditioning at 40 state prisons that lack cooling systems, either partially or entirely, by 2026.

Hope University

Launched throughout the NC prison system, Hope University provides oﬀenders thousands of tablet-based academic, vocational, and self-improvement courses available to take at their own pace.

Reentry 2030

Reentry 2030 is a national initiative that aims to dramatically improve reentry success for people exiting prison & for those under community supervision.
