Support Services
The Support Services Division oversees multiple, complex operations across agency facilities statewide, including:
Engineering, Construction and Maintenance
Provides engineering, architectural, and construction services to improve and maintain facilities statewide. The team handles installation, service, and repair of telecommunications, cameras, FA and EIS systems, HVAC/refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, welding/fabrication, kitchen equipment, grounds maintenance and more. They ensure compliance with codes, regulations and legislative mandates, while creating offender rehabilitation and training opportunities. Learn more about some of their projects here.
Central Supply Warehouse
Operates a fleet tractor trailers, delivering food, clothing, office and kitchen supplies to all institutions, facilities, and offices statewide. Receives and issues a combined total of approx.$60M in merchandise annually and averages a daily inventory of approximately $10 Million in merchandise.
Fleet Management
Responsible for the procurement, assignment, tracking and maintenance for more than 6,000 state-owned vehicles operated by NCDAC staff, including sedans, trucks, transport vans, buses, tractor-trailers and heavy-duty maintenance/construction vehicles.
Food and Nutrition Services
Responsible for facilitating food and nutrition at all facilities, ensuring meals meets the nutritional needs of the offender populations, and ensuring that all facilities are in compliance with sanitation rules and regulations. The team also manages food procurement, inventory management procedures, menu compliance, and oversees the Food Management System (FMS) utilized by all food management, dietitians and medical staff.
Radio and Transportation Communications
Manages, designs, and services all transportation/radio communications operations. This includes 52,000 two way radios on the statewide NXDN Radio System across NCDAC facilities/sites and support for systems including the VIPER and all Public Safety Communications systems. In addition, this team designs, engineers, and constructs towers and radio services to support all NCDAC department needs.
Sustainability and Energy Management
Efforts include sustainable land management practices, energy efficiency through Building Automation, LED lighting and Performance Driven Maintenance, water efficiency, and promoting resiliency for infrastructure and buildings.
