Lincoln Correctional Center
Lincoln Correctional Center is a minimum-security prison for adult male offenders. Offenders can work on for Department of Transportation road squads serving Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston, Cleveland and Mecklenburg counties.
Built in 1939, Lincoln was one of 61 field unit prisons renovated or built during the late 1930's to house offenders who worked building roads.
The General Assembly authorized a new dormitory in 1985. Work was completed in 1987 on the dormitory, a multipurpose building and a recreation building.. In June 1987, the building was converted to a medium security prison for adult males. It also operates a Printer Cartridge Recycling Program.
