At approximately 3 a.m., on Monday, June 20, 2016, the State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle collision one-mile north of Rolesville.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2014 Nissan passenger vehicle was traveling south on NC96 near the intersection of US401 when it was struck head-on by a 2001 GMC sport utility vehicle. After impact, the Nissan traveled onto the westbound shoulder where it came to a final rest. The GMC traveled onto the eastbound shoulder where it struck group of trees and caught fire.
The driver of the Nissan has been identified as Edward Henderson, 30, of 1702 Wallace Drive, Wilson. The driver of the GMC was has been identified as Enrique Zunugagracida, 23, of 45 Rustic Ridge Road, Franklinton. Both drivers were transported to Wake Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers suspect that Mr. Zunigagracida was impaired at the time of the collision. He has been charged with driving while impaired and traveling left of center.
