UPDATE: 5/1/2016 5:06 p.m. The State Prison Emergency Response Team has captured escapee William Bailey. He was caught in Winston-Salem without incident around 4:00 p.m. with the assistance of local law enforcement. Bailey now faces escape charges.
Inmate Lori Pote #1459850 was reportedly found ill in her bed at approximately 2:30 this morning at North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women. Pote was transported to a local hospital where she was later declared dead, the result of an apparent suicide.The State Capitol Police Department is investigating the death.Pote, 52, was serving 24 years for multiple counts of embezzlement. UPDATE: 4/27/2016 1 pm Department of Public Safety fugitive officers and canines captured escaped inmate Devin Brown shortly after 12 pm today in a wooded area in Landis NC, in Rowan County. Brown had escaped from the minimum security unit at Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Polkton about 12 hours earlier.
Inmate Tony Davis #0985653 was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 5:00 this morning at Lanesboro Correctional Institution. Prison medical staff and paramedics were unable to revive him and he was later declared dead, the result of an apparent suicide. The Polkton Police Department is investigating the death. Davis, 26, was serving 40 years for second degree murder. He has been in prison since June 2014. He was sentenced for the May 2013 shooting death of Christian Tobias McLean, 25, in Raleigh.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, the Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle fatality on US 64 eastbound near Shepard School Road.According to a witness, a 2006 Pontiac G6 passenger vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic. The vehicle lost control, traveling onto the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then burst into flames and became fully engulfed. The collision resulted in a small fire in the adjacent wood line. The fire was quickly extinguished by responding emergency responders.
UPDATE: Escaped Inmate Keith Bradley was captured in Raleigh at about 2:30 a.m. Corrections and law enforcement officers are seeking inmate Keith Bradley #0534855 who has escaped from Wake Correctional Center on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.

The shooting death happened during a traffic stop on Interstate 77.
