North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement special agents and the Raleigh Police Department arrested seven people during a raid at an illegal nightclub in Raleigh early Friday morning.
ALE agents and officers from Raleigh P.D. served a search warrant at the Luc Lounge, 2414 Paula Street, Raleigh, after an investigation alleging the business was selling alcoholic beverages without an Alcoholic Beverage Control permit. On July 13, the permits at the business were cancelled by the N.C. ABC Commission after an investigation of after hour sales and illegal ownership was concluded. The establishment remained open and continued selling alcoholic beverages.
Randall Rohm, age 40, and Sheldon Gunnell, age 34, were charged with selling and possessing for sale alcoholic beverages without an ABC permit. An employee acting as a security guard was charged with carrying a firearm unlicensed while engaged in security activities. Four other persons were charged with misdemeanor drug charges and outstanding warrants. Agents seized a handgun, $20,518 in US currency and about 500 liters of liquor and beer.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office also participated in the operation.
