Steven Mange serves as the policy director for NCDAC. He previously served as director of policy and legislative affairs for Attorney General Josh Stein. His focus has included strategies to address the opioid epidemic, substance misuse, and overdose death, as well as the intersection of behavioral health services and the criminal justice system.
Steve played a lead role in developing the comprehensive opioid remediation strategy list built into the national opioid settlements and in drafting, negotiating, and implementing North Carolina's memorandum of agreement on the allocation, use, and reporting of opioid settlement funds. Steve previously worked as senior policy advisor to the Illinois Attorney General, executive director of the Illinois Meth Project, and consultant to the National Alliance for Model State Drug Laws.
He has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, an M.A. from the University of Chicago, and a J.D. from NYU School of Law.
