Deputy Secretary Tracy K. Lee is a 34-year community supervision veteran. He began his career in 1990 as a probation officer and moved up the ranks as an Intensive Probation Officer, Chief Probation Officer, Assistant Judicial District Manager and Judicial District Manager – all in Mecklenburg County.
Before becoming director in May 2017, he served as Assistant Division Administrator, overseeing probation and parole operations in the Third Judicial Division that covers 22 counties in the Piedmont-Triad, Sandhills and northern mountains. Deputy Secretary Lee leads a statewide probation and parole system of more than 2,600 employees who supervise nearly 83,000 individuals on probation, parole or post-release supervision. Community Supervision operates with an annual budget of approximately $250 million.
Deputy Secretary Lee holds a degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina - Pembroke and is a graduate of the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program.
