Governor Pat McCrory announced today the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has received a $679,000 grant award to expand a specialty mental health probation pilot program to Brunswick, McDowell, Guilford, Mecklenburg, Orange and Durham counties. The grant comes from the U.S.

Pazuzu Algarad, 36, a pre-trial inmate facing murder charges in Forsyth County, was found unresponsive in his Central Prison cell during a regular count shortly after 3 a.m. today.

The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded a $1.75 million grant to the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice to enhance transitional services for inmates as they prepare to leave prison.
