Wake Correctional Center minimum custody inmate Darius K. Wilcher (#1153699), who was reported missing from his approved work assignment in Raleigh earlier today, was apprehended by state correctional staff and the Raleigh Police Department at approximately 3:45 p.m. in Knightdale. Prior to his capture, he was last seen near New Bern Avenue in Raleigh around 12:45 p.m.
Wilcher, 26, who is originally from Wake County, was serving a sentence for selling drugs and was admitted to prison on April 15, 2017. He was scheduled for release on June 1, 2019.
Wilcher will be moved to a higher custody facility and will face charges for his escape.
