Tom Brickhouse Named Superintendent at Hyde Correctional Institution

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Tom Brickhouse as the superintendent of Hyde Correctional Institution in Swan Quarter.
 
In his new position, he will be responsible for all operations at the facility that houses male offenders in medium and minimum custody.
 
Brickhouse, 47, most recently was the assistant superintendent at Bertie Correctional Institution.

A 24-year veteran to state government, Brickhouse began his career in 1994 as a correctional officer at Odom Correctional Institution and rose through the ranks over the next decade. He was a sergeant at Pasquotank CI, and a lieutenant and captain at Hyde CI. He was promoted to assistant superintendent at that facility in 2013 and was acting superintendent there for most of 2014. Brickhouse served as assistant superintendent at Caledonia CI for two years. He was acting administrator at Bertie for much of 2018.

A Tyrrell County native, Brickhouse is a certified general instructor for the Department and holds certifications for specialized fields of instructions such as firearms, control restraint and defensive tactics (CRDT), and OC pepper spray.

He also graduated from Peak Performance leadership and management training and holds a North Carolina Criminal Justice and Training Standards Advanced Corrections (training) Certificate.
