The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Teresa Jardon as the new warden of the Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton.
Jardon, 49, had been the operations manager for the Division of Prisons’ western region.
A veteran employee to state government, Jardon began her career as a correctional officer at Foothills CI in January 1994. She became a case manager two years later at Western Youth Correctional Institution, which closed in 2014.
In 1999, she was promoted to program supervisor at Caldwell Correctional Center in Lenoir and to unit manager of Mountain View Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine in 2000.
In 2003, she helped to open Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville as a captain and returned to Western Youth CI in 2006 as a case analyst. Two years later, she was promoted to assistant superintendent at Caldwell CC and was named superintendent there in 2012.
In her new position, Jardon is responsible for all operations at Foothills CI, which houses adult male offenders in close and minimum custody.
Jardon holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Spartanburg Methodist College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Gardner-Webb University.
She completed the year-long Correctional Leadership Development Program and holds an advanced corrections certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
She is also a member of the American Correctional Association, the North Carolina Correctional Association, and the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation. She serves as a board member for the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
