The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Kristie Brayboy as the new warden of the Morrison Correctional Institution in Hoffman.
Brayboy, 46, had been the warden at the Hoke Correctional Institution in Raeford since 2016.
A veteran employee to state government, Brayboy began her career in 1995 as a correctional officer at the Brown Creek Correctional Institution, which was consolidated in 2009 with the former Anson Correctional Center. She rose through the ranks, serving at that facility as a sergeant, assistant unit manager, and lieutenant. In 2003, she was promoted to be a unit manager at Lanesboro Correctional Institution in Polkton.
In 2006, she left the prison system to serve in Juvenile Justice as a youth cottage parent supervisor at Samarkand Youth Development Center, and a year later transferred to Community Corrections to serve as a surveillance officer, and probation/parole officer.
She returned to the Division of Prisons in 2010 as assistant superintendent for custody/operations at Scotland Correctional Institution in Laurinburg. Two years later, she transferred to Hoke Correctional Institution as an assistant superintendent for custody/operation and was promoted in 2016 to be the warden at the facility.
In her new position, Brayboy is responsible for all operations at the Morrison Correctional Institution, which houses adult male offenders in minimum and medium custody.
Brayboy is a native of Anson County and holds an associate in applied science degree in criminal justice technology from Sandhills Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University. She also completed the year-long Correctional Leadership Development Program.
