Offender Joshua A. Biby (#0636287) died this morning at Neuse Correctional Institution in an apparent suicide.
He was found unresponsive in his cell around 6:10 a.m. Local EMS responded and prison medical staff worked to resuscitate the offender, who was pronounced dead at the facility at 6:37 a.m.
Local law enforcement was notified and is conducting an investigation. The Department of Public Safety is cooperating fully in the investigation.
Biby, 38, was admitted to prison on Aug. 8, 2012 to serve a 15-year, 10-month sentence as a habitual felon. He had a parole eligibility date of Dec. 19, 2024.
