ALE special agents recently concluded an investigation resulting in multiple arrests and seizures.
In April of 2021, ALE received information of an illegal bar operating out of Roaring River. Special agents found the Brews Brothers Bar and Grill, located at 2055 Greenhorn Road, openly sold alcoholic beverages without first obtaining the applicable ABC permits. Special agents began an investigation into Brews Brothers Bar and Grill, and observed employees sold malt beverages to patrons on numerous occasions.
On April 30, 2021, ALE special agents executed a search warrant of the illegal bar and seized approximately 53 liters of various types of malt beverages.
Managers Timothy Sealey, 48, of North Wilkesboro, and David Wingler, 43, of Hayes, were both charged with possessing alcoholic beverages for sale without first obtaining the applicable ABC permits. Candace Ivey, 35, of North Wilkesboro, was charged with selling alcoholic beverages without first obtaining the applicable ABC permits. In addition, Ivey was taken into custody due to an outstanding arrest warrant from the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office for larceny by employee.
Triad Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement and the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
