Officials with the Department of Adult Correction have promoted three Community Supervision managers to the positions of Judicial District Managers (JDM) in Judicial Divisions I and II which cover 53 counties in central and Eastern North Carolina.
- Ashley Dail - JDM, District 4 - Duplin, Sampson and Jones counties
- Angela Winchester – JDM, District 14 - Chatham, Durham and Orange counties
- Kimberly Wright – JDM, District 9 – Franklin, Granville, Vance and Warren counties
“These managers have worked very hard with dedication and commitment to ensure community safety and oversee our officers who supervision offenders,” said Todd Ishee, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “Their skills, training and leadership are great assets to the department.”
“I am very pleased to promote these hardworking managers,” said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “It’s a challenging job, but I know they are up to the task and will excel in these new roles.”
Ashley Dail has worked for the Department of Adult Correction for 14 years. She began her career as a public school teacher, before becoming a corrections officer. She became a probation/parole officer (PPO) in 2012, supervising offenders in Duplin and Jones counties. She has worked as a Security Risk Group (SRG) Officer and is also a member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. S.H.I.E.L.D. (Staff Helping In Emergency Life-changing crisis or Difficult situations) is a program that supports employees who have experienced a personal and/or professional life-changing crisis. It is comprised of DAC professionals trained in critical incident stress management. Dail is a graduate of Mt. Olive College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration.
Angela Winchester began her career in criminal justice in North Carolina with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention before becoming a probation/parole officer in 2008. Since that time she’s been a field specialist officer and chief probation/parole officer (CPPO). Most recently she’s served as assistant judicial district manager (AJDM) in both Raleigh and Greensboro. Winchester is a graduate of the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminology.
Kimberly Wright began her career in 2006 as a Correctional Officer at the North Carolina Correctional Institute for Women. She became a probation/parole officer in 2010 in Wake County and was promoted to Chief Probation/ Parole Officer in Wilson County in 2014. Most recently, she has served as a Chief Probation/ Parole Officer in Franklin County. During her career, Wright has obtained several specialty instructor certifications and was the recipient of the NCDPS Badge of Excellence Award for Public Service and Volunteerism in 2002. Wright is a graduate of Westfield State College, in Westfield, Massachusetts, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology. She’s also a graduate of the NCDAC Peak Performance and Master Frontline Leadership Programs.
