Secretary of Adult Correction Todd Ishee has named Annette Stubblefield as warden of Dan River Prison Work Farm.
Stubblefield served as Dan River PWF’s associate warden of custody and operations since 2020.
“Warden Stubblefield has 30 years of experience, mostly at our Dan River facility,” Ishee said. “Not only does she know that operation inside and out, but she also knows what it takes to be a successful correctional administrator and leader. She will be a fine warden.”
As warden, Stubblefield is responsible for all operations at Dan River PWF, located outside Yanceyville in Caswell County. Offenders grow produce in fields and in greenhouses for consumption in NCDAC facilities statewide. Rehabilitative programs include educational and vocational courses through Piedmont Community College such as high school equivalency, forklift operation, horticulture and landscaping.
Stubblefield began her career in 1994 as a correctional officer at Blanch Correctional Institution, which closed in 1999. She transferred to nearby Dan River PWF, where she was promoted to sergeant in 2000, lieutenant in 2010 and associate warden in 2020.
She holds an Advanced Certificate in Criminal Justice from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.
