Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted John Corwin to the position of Judicial District Manager II in Judicial District 5, effective January 13, 2025.
In his new position, he will oversee Community Supervision operations in District 5 which covers New Hanover and Pender counties in the eastern portion of North Carolina.
“Over the course of his 15-year career, John has proven his skills as an officer and manager,” said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “His dedication to maintaining public safety and making a difference are great assets to the division.”
Corwin began his career with DAC in 2010 as a Probation/Parole Officer in New Hanover County. In 2019 he was promoted to Chief Probation/Parole Officer, also in New Hanover County. During his career Corwin has supervised caseloads to include Sex Offenders, Domestic Violence, Security Risk Group, and Special Mental Health probationers. Corwin is a general instructor as well as instructor for firearms, tasers, and body worn cameras. In 2023, he was recognized by NCDAC for his commitment as a member of the Career Progression Committee.
Corwin is a graduate of University of Cincinnati with a master’s degree in criminal justice and Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
