Greene CI offender dies in apparent suicide

Samuel Shore #1378597 died yesterday in an apparent suicide at Greene Correctional Institution in Maury.

Shore was found unresponsive in his cell around 9:30 last night. Prison staff and paramedics performed life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.

Local law enforcement and the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating, as is required in these circumstances. The N.C. Department of Adult Correction is cooperating fully and conducting its own investigation.

Shore, 28, was serving about four years for two convictions of driving while intoxicated. His projected release date was in April 2025.
