Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Kathryn Rhodes to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 29, effective March 24.
In her new position, Rhodes will oversee Community Supervision operations in Polk, Transylvania, McDowell, Henderson and Rutherford counties. The district includes 75 probation/parole officers and staff supervising more than 2,300 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.
“I know that Kathryn will continue her great work in helping to maintain public safety, and leading her team of officers and staff” said Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary for the Department of Adult Correction. “She is well prepared for this new position and is a great asset to our department.”
“I am very pleased to promote Kathryn Rhodes,” said Tracy K. Lee, deputy secretary for Community Supervision. “She has steadily risen through the ranks, and her leadership and skills have made her a trusted manager.”
Rhodes has 24 years of experience with NCDAC, beginning her career at Gaston Correctional Center as a Case Manager. Later, she served as a probation/parole officer (PPO) in Gaston, Haywood, and Buncombe counties until 2019. She has received several promotions during her career. In 2019, she was promoted to Division IV field specialist, then to Division IV chief probation/parole officer (CPPO), and has most recently served as the assistant judicial district manager (AJDM) in District 29.
Kathryn is a general instructor with a specialty in Controls, Restraints, and Defensive Techniques, serves as the Division IV Women’s Coordinator and is a graduate of NCDAC’s Master Frontline Leadership Training.
Kathryn is a graduate of Western Carolina University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
