RALEIGH — Four N.C. Prisons facilities have demonstrated high standards of security, safety and concern for offenders’ welfare that are necessary to earn accreditation from the American Correctional Association.
The ACA’s Commission on Accreditation voted unanimously on March 30 to award the distinction to:
· Prisons’ Administrative Operations
· Sanford Correctional Center
· Correction Enterprises’ janitorial products plant at Warren Correctional Institution
· Correction Enterprises’ recycling plant for road signs and license plates in Carthage.
Due to the potential for severe weather today and tomorrow, the federally-supported Greensboro Community Vaccination Center at Four Seasons will stop drive-through vaccination operations at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and resume drive-through vaccinations the following mornings at 8 a.m. Indoor vaccination operations will continue without interruption.
People with a drive-through appointment for 1 p.m. or later on Saturday and Sunday can get vaccinated at the indoor clinic at Four Seasons Town Centre at the same appointment time.

An offender participating in Extending the Limits of Confinement (ELC) who absconded from her approved residence in Concord earlier this month has been located in Mint Hill.
Tiffany Kirby (#1263001) was serving active sentences for Habitual Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering. She had a projected release date of Sept. 23, 2021. She now faces escape charges.
Governor Roy Cooper reminds North Carolinians to make sure their families are prepared for the severe weather threatening a large portion of the state over the next 24 hours.
“With severe weather expected tomorrow, people should prepare to monitor emergency alerts and review their family emergency plan,” Governor Cooper said. “Everyone should pay attention to the forecast and remember to follow all recommended actions from their local public safety officials.”
The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Claudette Edwards as the new warden of the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women in Raleigh.
Edwards had been the interim warden at the prison since August 2020.

A Franklin Correctional Center offender with pre-existing medical conditions, who tested positive for COVID-19, has died at a hospital.
“We are continuing our extensive efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our prisons. The health and safety of the staff and the offender population is our top priority,” said Todd Ishee, Commissioner of Prisons. “I urge the staff and offenders to be vaccinated as soon as they are eligible. It’s important.”
