David Whittington (#1475686) died today, the result of an apparent suicide. Whittington was found unresponsive Jan. 14 in his cell at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury.  He had been hospitalized since then.
Samuel Shore #1378597 died yesterday in an apparent suicide at Greene Correctional Institution in Maury.
Ivan Jahir Blanco #1709156 died this morning in an apparent suicide.

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC)  have promoted John Corwin to the position of Judicial District Manager II in Judicial District 5, effective January 13, 2025.In his new position, he will oversee Community Supervision operations in District 5 which covers New Hanover and Pender counties in the eastern portion of North Carolina.
Officials with the Department of Adult Correction (DAC) have promoted Michael Gier to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 28, effective December 23.In his new position, he will oversee probation/parole officers and staff who supervise individuals in District 28 sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision
