A person in custody at Scotland Correctional Institution died this morning after being involved in an altercation with other offenders.

Brandon James Lee was found unresponsive in his cell around noon today.

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Leslie Henley to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 12, effective Oct. 27.In her new position, Henley will oversee Community Supervision operations in Cumberland County. The district includes 76 probation/parole officers and staff supervising more than 2,100 individuals sentenced to probation, parole or post-release supervision.

Officials with the NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) have promoted Charles Raiford to the position of Judicial District Manager (JDM) in Judicial District 3.

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction has announced North Carolina is the first state to develop a dashboard to track progress made toward objectives, strategies, and metrics established in its Reentry 2030 Strategic Plan. North Carolina’s plan was released in August 2024 by the state’s Joint Reentry Council.

Etheridge previously served as the associate warden for operations at Tyrrell PWF.

The task force, established in August through Executive Order 21, is charged with identifying solutions to create safe communities across North Carolina by reducing gang violence and helping young people reach a productive and fulfilling adulthood.
