Medicated Assisted Treatment

The Rehabilitation and Reentry Division is piloting a Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) program at Orange Correctional Center for men and the NC Correctional Institute for Women.

The program, meant to help address the opioid crisis, provides MAT for offenders nearing release with the goal of decreasing the likelihood of overdose, arrest, probation revocation, or criminal activity upon release. The offenders initiated on MAT are identified by NCDAC clinical team staff. based on confirmable history of opioid use disorder and likelihood of successful initiation and continuation after community release. Pregnant women are not eligible for this program.
